Mary Alice grew up in Chattanooga TN and moved to Los Angeles to earn her MFA in production at the American Film Institute. While in graduate school she worked at Pace Wildenstein/Los Angeles. After graduation she moved to Paris to work as a fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar and continues to have close ties to all the European designers.

In Paris she was offered the opportunity to work with famed fashion editor Polly Mellon on all of her celebrity photo shoots in Los Angeles.
