That’s a great question, and being an almost pathological answerer of questions, I have an answer for you—rejection.

However, I’ve written many more novels than I’ve had published, and it took until the seventh novel before an editor acquired what became my debut. I had to learn how to plot, and the Sticky Note Plot method is what I invented.

In 2015, I shared the Sticky Note publicly for the first time at a weekend writing retreat at Vermont College of Fine Arts.

It was a hit, and one writer in attendance used it to revise their books and get published for the first time. They are still using the method, and more than a dozen books created or revised by the SNP method have been published.
